Swim teams will continue during pool closures
Plans are in place to ensure the swim teams at Anderson and Turpin will continue for the 2019-2020 academic year. The pools at both schools are currently closed for repairs.
An engineer has determined that both pools need repairs before re-opening. As bond construction is complete at Turpin and the repairs are less extensive, the Board of Education has authorized a bid process to determine the cost to repair the pool at THS. If a bid is accepted, the Turpin pool may open in time for the upcoming swim season.
The pool at Anderson High School will require more work and will take more time to complete. Construction is continuing on the locker rooms at Anderson through the fall, and due to the proximity of the pool and locker rooms, work is not able to start at this time. The Anderson High School pool will be closed during the 2019-2010 academic year.
The Board of Education is meeting in August to discuss pool repairs in more detail. The pools were not included in the 2014 bond issue.
The district has secured other training facilities to ensure the swim programs will have a successful upcoming season.
