Students, Staff Come Together to Shower Damar Hamlin and Bills With Love
FHSD students and staff came together this past week to show support for injured Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin, his family and his entire football team. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during a game against the Bengals on Monday, January 2, 2023 and many people across Cincinnati wanted to show how much they were hoping for Hamlin to pull through. The FHSD community was no different.
Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor’s wife Sarah coordinated with schools across southwest Ohio to create get well soon cards for Hamlin. She’s pictured here with a Summit Elementary family and some of the cards shared by schools across FHSD.
Many of our students joined in to make cards and offer kind words of support. Ayer Elementary and Wilson Elementary also hosted their own spirit days where students and staff dressed in Bills colors and came together to wish Hamlin a full and fast recovery. Hamlin was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday and was able to travel home to Buffalo.
“This is who we are,” Superintendent Larry Hook said. “I am incredibly proud of the way people across our entire district displayed their support and believe this is an important reflection of our FHSD Family.”
