Register Now for FHSD's Parent Academy on January 23
As staff and students kick off a new semester in 2025, FHSD is excited to invite parents, guardians and community members to attend the next Parent Academy Night on Thursday, January 23, 2025! The schedule for the January event is packed with informative sessions that cover a wide variety of topics relevant to families with students of all ages.
The district's goal is to provide families with support and resources that might be beneficial as we all work together to help students realize their full potential.
The FHSD Teaching and Learning Team used feedback from people who attended previous Parent Academy evenings to guide the topics and programming being offered later this month. Some of the sessions include navigating FAFSA and financial aid (presented by Xavier University’s assistant dean of admissions), supporting kids in the digital age, games to challenge gifted thinkers, reading tips for young students and more.
Each Parent Academy will include at least one featured presentation on an in-demand topic. The featured presentations for January are:
- The Ohio Poison Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital present “Marijuana: Hidden Risks, Trends and Harm Reduction Strategies.”
- Beech Acres Parenting Center presents “Navigating the Turbulent Tweens/Teens,” with insights into supporting your tween or teen through mistakes and fostering their independence while maintaining a strong relationship.
FHSD Village Connections will host a session about understanding your student's educational trajectory and how you can support success after high school. This session is geared toward families of students in 7th grade and above. High school students will also be able to participate in a mock interview workshop, which will include 1-on-1 interviews with local professionals.
Parent Academy Night will be held at Nagel Middle School from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23 and we hope you will be able to attend! Thanks to generous support from the Forest Hills Foundation for Education, child care and a light meal will be provided to those who register.
