OrthoCincy and The Christ Hospital to Offer Free Sports Physicals

Apr 18, 2024

OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and The Christ Hospital are providing free sports physicals on Saturday, June 15, 9 a.m.–noon, at OrthoCincy in Anderson Township, which is located at 7910 Beechmont Avenue. These free sports physicals are for any student-athlete entering grades 6-12 for the 2024-2025 school year. Participating student-athletes will also receive a free T-shirt.

The sports physicals provided will meet the requirements of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) to participate with interscholastic elementary, middle and high school sponsored sports programs. Families needing physicals for other purposes are asked to follow up with their primary care provider.

Each student receiving a physical will pass through various stations including height and weight; vision, ears, nose and throat; blood pressure and heart rate; and spine and extremities assessment. There is no cost for this sports physical event.

Students are asked to arrive in a t-shirt and shorts with completed OHSAA physical forms signed by their parent/guardian. You can find the appropriate forms by visiting orthocincy.com/community-outreach/.

This free OrthoCincy and The Christ Hospital sports physical event is open to all students regardless of school affiliation. You can view an informational flyer by clicking here. FHSD is proud to have both OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and The Christ Hospital as its official sports medicine and wellness partners.

For additional information, please contact Highpoint Health Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine at (812) 537-8144 or 1-800-676-5572, ext. 8144.

Note:

A pre-participation sports physical from OrthoCincy is the first step in making sure an athlete is healthy and ready for the upcoming season. Sports physicals meet the requirements of the Ohio High School Athletic Association to participate with interscholastic middle and high school sponsored sports programs.

Any athlete grades 6–12 must have a pre-participation physical and consent to be eligible for competition. This includes any students who transfer from in or out of state who wish to participate in sanctioned sports for the 2024-25 school year.

Sports physicals consist of two parts: a medical history and a physical examination. The goal of sports physicals is to evaluate an athlete's general health, current fitness level, risk of injury and physical well-being. Sports physicals help raise awareness of any issues that may interfere with your child’s ability to participate in a sport.

A sports physical should not replace an annual wellness physical.
