The Forest Hills School District is set to welcome Larry Hook as its next superintendent. The Board of Education selected Mr. Hook following a rigorous interview process where he was able to emerge from a strong pool of qualified candidates.

“I am confident that Mr. Hook will be an excellent addition to our school district,” FHSD Board of Education President Linda Hausfeld said. “His passion for students and education, as well as his ability to unite all stakeholders, sets a strong foundation for the future of Forest Hills School District.”

The Board voted to approve Mr. Hook’s contract at a special meeting on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 with President Hausfeld, Vice President Bibb and Member Jonas in favor. Mr. Hook’s first day will be August 1 and he will have ten consulting days which will allow him to start working with the district prior to that date.

“I am truly honored and delighted to be presented with this opportunity,” Hook said. “I look forward to working with students, staff, parents and the community to ensure Forest Hills maintains its strong commitment to academic excellence and student success, both in and out of the classroom.”

Mr. Hook is currently the Superintendent of Springboro Community City Schools in Warren County, where he organized efforts and passed a 2 mill permanent improvement levy by 70% approval. He also served as the district’s assistant superintendent from 2002-2010. In addition to his time at Springboro, Mr. Hook served as Superintendent of Carlisle Local School District from 2010-2020 and has prior administrative experience at Milford Exempted Village School District, bringing nearly 30 years of overall administrative experience to FHSD.

The Board selected the district’s new leader following a statewide search conducted by K-12 Business Consulting, Inc. which included crucial feedback from stakeholders throughout FHSD. Students, staff, parents and community members were invited to participate in open focus group sessions and to submit a search profile questionnaire which provided important information to help guide the Board of Education in its evaluation of candidates. Invited members of these stakeholder groups were also able to meet with the final two candidates in Q&A sessions and that feedback was shared with the Board as well.

Mr. Hook received his Master of Education from Xavier University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in biological science and physical education from Central University of Iowa.
