FHSD PARTICIPATES IN WALK 4 HOPE 2021
Together, Forest Hills Schools are spreading HOPE, LOVE, and COMPASSION within our community this month by rallying together to share mental health awareness through a “WALK4HOPE.” FHSD’s Hope Squads invite Students, Teachers, Parents, and the Community to help with this mission by joining our Forest Hills Team and taking a socially distant 5k awareness walk, so we can all WALK AS ONE!
While youth mental illness and suicide have been rising over the last decade, the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the need for providing support to those who struggle. Hope Squads provide the missing piece in many schools, a peer-to-peer, evidence-based program that trains students to be the eyes and ears of their school. Students are trained to know how to spot emotional warning signs in their classmates, how to ask the right questions and how to get their peer to an adult who can intervene before it is too late.
Three FHSD are participating in this year's walk:
NAGEL:
Participants may complete their walk in their neighborhoods, in the comfort of their home on a treadmill, in a safe location in their community, or join with friends, family and Hope Squad members on Sunday, April 18 at 1:00PM when we can all WALK AS ONE to spread hope!

TURPIN:
In support of the Walk4Hope, Turpin’s student body will also participate in a school wide awareness Walk4Hope together as a Spartan community on Monday April 19th during the extended advisory from 9:45-10:45. Each advisory will walk the track together as a community and get to stretch their legs and get some fresh air after a long week of testing. During the event there will be music, refreshments, therapy dogs, and lots of fun!
We encourage you to wear GREEN for Forest Hills and Mental Health Awareness on April 19th.
