FHSD Educator Named 2022 'Outstanding Administrator' in Ohio
FHSD learning design specialist Ericka Thompson is the first person to win Outstanding Central Office Administrator in Ohio. The new award is a recognition from the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators, who selected Thompson following a statewide search which included an extensive application and interview process for all candidates.
“Receiving the Outstanding Central Office Administrator award from OAESA is an unexpected honor,” Thompson said. “As the first recipient of this new award, I am forever grateful to have the privilege to help set the course for the future recipients.”
As a learning design specialist with FHSD, Thompson works primarily in the six elementary schools. Her role involves working with classroom teachers to connect them with necessary resources and support to best meet the needs of students in Forest Hills. Thompson is also involved in planning, implementing and participating in the math and English Language Arts courses of study, among other responsibilities.
“It is my hope that through this award there will always be a focus on the importance of keeping central office staff directly connected with the staff and students in the schools, because this is the only way to ensure we are truly meeting the needs of those most important in our district,” Thompson said.
OAESA’s criteria for selection of the award requires that the honorees are active administrators in schools where programs are designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students and where there are firmly established community ties with parents and local business organizations. OAESA will recognize Thompson at an awards ceremony on June 17 in Columbus. You can learn more about the organization here.
