FHSD Approves New 3-Year Collective Bargaining Agreements
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the Forest Hills Board of Education reached an agreement with its teachers association and approved a new, three-year contract that goes into effect with the 2024-2025 school year. The Board subsequently approved contracts with two additional labor groups at a meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The FHSD bargaining team, which includes Central Office administrators, building administrators and the Board’s attorney, met with representatives from the Forest Hills Teachers Association (FHTA), Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) Local No. 177 and OAPSE Local No. 273 in separate discussions multiple times throughout the negotiation process. The newly approved contracts includes annual salary increases of 3% in 2024-2025 and 2% in both 2025-2026 and 2026-2027. The bargaining teams also agreed on changes to the Board and Employee annual health insurance contributions that will cap the Employee share at 25% and ensure the Board share will not decrease below 75% of the monthly premium cost.
“All of us here at Forest Hills School District greatly value our teachers and our shared commitment to educating students and preparing them to excel in and out of the classroom,” Superintendent Larry Hook said. “I am appreciative of the productive nature of our discussions and believe these terms are beneficial to the district, our dedicated staff members and the broader community.”
