Forest Hills School District is holding its fourth Parent Academy Night on February 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Nagel Middle School. Parent Academy Night provides the opportunity for parents and guardians, PreK-12, to come and learn about various topics that will help benefit families and students. Topics range from how to help your student with academics over the summer, transitions to new buildings, Love and Logic, 1-1 time with NMS, AHS, and THS principals, executive functioning, and viewing the newest Screenagers movie. High school students will also have the opportunity to participate in mock interviews and networking through FHSD’s Community Partnership Program! Our wonderful FHSD teachers, administrators, and community members have all volunteered their time to make this night possible. Parent Academy is designed to benefit families with students of all ages.

Thank you to the Forest Hills Foundation for Education for sponsoring this event! This year, a light meal and childcare will be provided. The registration link below will help us plan for food and childcare. Thanks again to FHFE!

The district will have two featured speakers in February guests may choose from.

Sarah Ward - Teach children to manage their time, space, and materials while keeping emotions in check. Powerful strategies to help children develop independent executive function skills. In this virtual session, you will: develop a solid understanding of what executive function skills are and how they impact a student’s academic and personal performance; learn how to promote the development of executive function skills by weaving them naturally into everyday activities; learn dozens of easy-to-implement strategies to help children initiate tasks, follow routines, transition between tasks, think in an organized way, and encourage self-initiative to manage homework and tasks; identify easy strategies to help students understand time demands and internally feel the sweep of time to focus and complete tasks in allotted time frames; and show students the process of how to plan and complete homework, tasks, and chores with less supervision and fewer prompts. Please view an informational flyer for this session by clicking here.

Step Up Anderson Township - Screenagers Under the Influence: Vaping Drugs, & Alcohol in the Digital Age. From the producers of Screenagers, this is their third and newest movie. Join Screenagers’ filmmaker, Delaney Ruston, as she picks up her camera once more to examine the impact of our digital age on teens' decision-making about substances such as vaping, drugs, and alcohol.
