Calendar Update: Student Non-School Days Changing in March
During the January 17, 2024 Board of Education Meeting, board members approved a plan to adjust the schedule for student school days in March. This change comes in light of the upcoming presidential primary election. All six FHSD elementary school buildings are used as public polling sites during local, state and national elections. With that in mind, and after careful consideration with district leadership, Superintendent Hook recommended the change as an added precaution to ensure student safety on a day that the district anticipates its buildings will be visited by a large number of community members.
To be clear, the district has no reason to believe there is any specific safety concern related to the presidential primary election. Rather, this move is being done out of an abundance of caution and after feedback from community members related to last spring’s election day.
As a result, all students in Preschool through 12th grade will now be off on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 19. Specific details are provided below.
