Board meeting closed to public, available via live stream
In the continued and collective efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus, President Donald Trump announced Monday that all Americans should avoid congregating in groups of 10 or more. This announcement came after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that the state will ban groups of 50 people or more in a single space.
In response to this updated directive and under the recommendation of the district’s legal counsel, the Forest Hills Board of Education meeting on Monday, March 23 will be physically closed to the public. The meeting will not include public commentary; however, community members will be able to watch the entire meeting live via the district’s YouTube channel. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
“As we continue to face unprecedented decisions across the globe, Forest Hills School District must remain steadfast in putting the health and safety of our students, staff and community members first,” said Scot Prebles, superintendent. “We must unite as a community to closely follow and adhere to any further guidance from national, state and local levels. We’re in this together - and together, we will get through it.”
No action will be taken during this meeting regarding the Anderson High School pool project. The district sent this update to all Forest Hills families on March 11. Since that time, our coaches and athletic directors have continued to engage in conversations regarding how to best support our student-athletes for the 20-21 swim and dive season.
The Forest Hills Board of Education may vote on a proposal from Kentucky-based 7 Hills Church to use Anderson High School’s Titus Auditorium for church services. This proposal was presented during the Board’s regular meeting in February, and the district published this FAQ to answer questions from community members.
“I want to thank everyone for their understanding and continued patience during this time,” said Prebles. “Forest Hills School District, along with thousands of districts nationwide, is doing its best to navigate this rapidly-evolving situation and to respond quickly as new orders and guidelines are announced. We must not hesitate in taking every precaution to do our part to ‘flatten the infectious curve’ and support the protocols set forth by officials.”
